Lucas Cole's Equity Finance Summer Internship Reflection

Lucas Cole, a rising Senior at the University of Miami, shares insights about his 2023 Equity Finance Internship at South Street Securities:

Why did you choose South Street Securities for your internship?

I selected South Street Securities for my summer internship for many compelling reasons, including the company culture. The realm of finance can be daunting for newcomers, but I was fortunate to find an organization that encouraged learning and fostered a supportive environment where I felt comfortable asking questions and exploring new concepts. At South Street Securities, I was embraced by an open arms culture that welcomed everyone, making me comfortable and eager to expand my knowledge as a newcomer in the industry. The familial energy in the company created a healthy atmosphere that made each day in the office a positive experience.

Who did you work with? Tell us about your mentorship experience.

During my internship, I had the privilege of working under the guidance of Andrew Leone and Frank Giusti on the Equity Finance desk. Their approachable nature played a crucial role in my development, as they were always willing to impart their knowledge and expertise. Working closely with Andrew and Frank, I delved into the intricacies of equity finance and security lending, gaining valuable insights that expanded my understanding of these complex concepts.

I can confidently say that I could not have asked for a better team to work with during this summer. The support and mentorship provided by Andrew, Frank and the entire South Street Securities team enabled me to flourish in my role and offered me an unparalleled understanding of the dynamics of equity finance. This experience was eye-opening, providing me with a glimpse into the inner workings of this dynamic industry.

My internship at South Street Securities has been an enlightening and enriching journey.
